You no longer need a five-figure terminal for straight rows. Here is what actually matters when picking a guidance app.
Guidance terminals once cost more than a used truck. App-based guidance has changed the math — but not every app is equal. Here is what to weigh.
Accuracy and correction sources
Bare phones give 3–5 m accuracy. For real guidance you want SBAS support and, ideally, RTK/NTRIP corrections for centimeter passes. Confirm the app accepts an external receiver.
Coverage mapping
A live painted swath that shows skips and overlap is the single most valuable feature. It pays for itself in saved seed, fuel and chemical on day one.
Offline reliability
Fields rarely have signal. Guidance must work fully offline and sync later.
FieldNav covers all three, runs on hardware you already own, and supports A–B, curved and pivot patterns.
